Thank you to the New Jersey Institute of Social Ju Thank you to the New Jersey Institute of Social Justice for putting together a list of food resources for families after SNAP benefits lapse. Links for the food resources will be posted here and in our stories as well as you can use QR code on the flyer here. Here’s a word from NJISJ:

The cutoff in access to SNAP affects more than 400,000 households in our state, including children, seniors and those with disabilities. There will be pressure on food banks, schools and local organizations.

Our state is already plagued by inequality and racial disparities, and the SNAP suspension will hit the most vulnerable the hardest.

Governor Murphy has declared a State of Emergency and established a Task Force in response to the SNAP suspension, and has continued state-level supplemental SNAP payments for about 32,000 households. The Governor’s office has recommended that residents follow the Governor’s social media channels and website for updates and resources.

Like so many situations the country – and New Jersey – are experiencing today, this is a moral abomination impacting at-risk people in the most direct of ways.

The Institute will continue its steadfast work to #dosocialjustice – and fight for the rights and needs of our communities.

Onward!
